ARIZONA PARALEGAL ASSOCIATION
THE APA IS NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS AND DECLARATIONS OF CANDIDacy FOR THE 2018-2019 YEAR
Any Active Voting Member of the Arizona Paralegal Association in good standing is encouraged to serve as a Board Officer or as a Committee Chair. You must be actively employed as a paralegal.
Any member of the Arizona Paralegal Association can serve as a member of any of our committees.
The term of service is from June 1 to May 31. The elections are held electronically every year in May.
Below are the Board Officer positions and the Committee Chair positions.

Board Officer positions:
PRESIDENT (one-year term; must have served on the APA Board or on an APA Committee for one year prior to declaring candidacy):
Presides at all meetings of the APA and its Board of Directors, and performs such other duties as ordinarily pertain to this office; appoints committee chairs as provided by the Bylaws; serves as an ex-officio (non-voting) member of all committees, except the Nominating Committee; has charge of enforcing the Code of Ethics.
FIRST VICE PRESIDENT (one-year term):
Presides in the absence of the President and shall succeed to that office in the event of a vacancy and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Board of Directors; is responsible for maintaining the Job Bank of the APA and overseeing the position of Job Bank Coordinator.
SECOND VICE PRESIDENT (one-year term):
Responsible for obtaining educational speakers for the monthly webinars/seminars.
TREASURER (two-year term):
Receives all monies and makes all disbursements; keeps account of all receipts and disbursements; prepares monthly written reports; prepares Annual Certificate of Disclosure for filing with the Arizona Corporation Commission; works with accountant to confirm and close books at end of year and in preparing annual tax returns; serves as ex-officio member of the Membership Committee.
RECORDING SECRETARY (one-year term):
Maintains a correct recording of all meetings of the Board of Directors and the Annual Business Meeting in a permanent record book; preserves in a permanent file all records and letters of value to the Association and its officers; assists the President in any way; makes Minutes of the Association's meetings available to the NALA President upon request.
NALA LIAISON (one-year term; must be member of NALA):
Must be an individual NALA member; must be familiar with the NALA Bylaws and Standing Rules; receives minutes of NALA meetings; represents the Arizona Paralegal Association at the NALA Annual Meeting of Affiliated Associations; submits reports on Association activities to the NALA Affiliated Associations Director twice a year (December 1 and June 1), reports all officers' names to the NALA headquarters and the NALA Affiliated Associations Director; submits items the Association wished discussed to the NALA Affiliated Associations Director; participates in discussion sessions at NALA's annual meetings; submits a report to the APA members on the NALA annual meeting; notifies the NALA Parliamentarian and Affiliated Associations Director of any changes in the Association's Bylaws; serves as the main contact between NALA and the Association.
Committee Chair positions:
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE CHAIR (one-year term):
Solicit new members; to receive, approve and process all applications for membership; to process renewal applications; to maintain and update the membership list with address changes and to act as liaison with the Newsletter Committee and all other committees requiring a mailing list of all members; perform all other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall serve as an ex-officio member of the Membership Committee.
NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE CHAIR (one-year term):
Publishing a newsletter or bulletin every month, or as otherwise determined by the Committee and the Board of Directors, and distributing copies to all members of this Association and to other interested parties; perform all other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors. The newsletter or bulletin is to contain reports of APA's meetings, law-related articles, and other items of interest to the membership.
PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE CHAIR (one-year term):
Act as liaison with the continuing legal education sections of the local and/or state bar associations and paralegal schools in the State of Arizona; promote the Arizona Paralegal Association and its benefits; organize, implement and encourage members to participate in social, networking and community service events; perform all other duties assigned by the Board of Directors.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE COMMITTEE CHAIR (also known as Education and Seminar Committee) (one-year term):
Act as liaison with the continuing legal education sections of the local and/or state bar associations; responsible for organizing and overseeing the Annual Legal Conference; work with the Board of Directors on selection of speakers and topics; work with Committee members and Board of Directors to organize and implement the Annual Conference; perform all other duties assigned by the Board of Directors.
